Why the Walter 1795?

Anton Walter's fortepiano of around 1795 is one of the most historically significant instruments ever built. Mozart didn't merely play Walter's instruments — he loved them so much that he acquired one for himself. In late 18th-century Vienna, Walter was the most celebrated piano maker of his day, renowned for an exceptionally singing tone and a delicate, responsive touch.
I am now embarking on building a copy of this legendary instrument by hand, in my own woodworking workshop in Finland.
